PIH offers several regular training sessions each week. Weekly training sessions occur:

  • Saturday morning at Thetis Lake Park
  • Tuesday after work at various locations
  • Thursday mornings at various locations

The club also offers special non-race events throughout the year, such as Hound Hikes, Wilderness Runs, and Holiday Runs.

Visitors are welcome to attend a training session. Just drop by and let us know you're new!

Some Harrier club members also offer training sessions and personalized coaching.

  • Improve your running with small group training.  Perseverance Running offers a workout session every Thursday night at 5:30pm at various centrally located venues.  Workouts are mostly either on road or trail, but also sometimes on track or stairs.  Weeks typically alternate between flat and hill workouts.  Sessions are around 1 hour long and are structured to accommodate all paces.  The drop-in fee is $5.  Workouts are sent out via email a day or two before.  If you wish to be added to the mailing list, please contact Shane at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Harriers Youth Team is a year-round training and racing group based in Victoria, focusing on both track and field and cross country running.

The Team has about 25 members ranging from grade 8 to third-year university. This includes youth who are just starting to run to those who are competing at the national and international level. We compete here on the Island, but increasingly we have to look to races on the Mainland, other provinces or the US to get competitive races.

8:00 am Saturdays – Saturday morning group trail runs take place every week throughout the year in Thetis Lake Park and Francis King Park.  We meet at 8:00 am at the main Thetis Lake parking lot at the end of Six Mile Road from October through the end of April.  For the warmer months of May through September we meet at the small parking area at Prior Lake on Highland Road.

This is the classic Prairie Inn Harriers weekly social run with groups ranging from slow to moderate to fast.  All runners, dogs and walkers are welcome.  You don't have to be a club member to join in as there is no fee to participate.  If you are unfamiliar with the park trails this is a great way to learn the trail network.  Group Leaders are available for all paces.  No one gets lost or left behind.

PIH Group Shot 2023 TNW small5:15 pm Tuesdays – Weekly after-work interval workout using various local roads, parks, and trails. Every week is different and everyone is welcome. The faster runners will pick up slower runners on the final lap.

The group was started by Maurice Tarrant and initially attracted only about half a dozen runners, mostly retired friends of Maurice. It blossomed to a consistent core group of about 30 runners and walkers before withering during Covid. It has since bounced back to about 25. With most in the their mid- to late-70's and some in their 80's they've graduated to mainly walking with only a few still running. Locations vary weekly and there is usually a gathering in a restaurant or other venue afterwards.
