P1020519-MPIH hosts 8 races in the Victoria area each year. There are races for all running syles including road, trail, hill, and just plain fun. The Thetis Lake Fall series includes the PIH Bob Reid Magical Mile, PIH Thetis Lake Relay, PIH Gunner Shaw Memorial 10K Cross Country Classic, and PIH Stewart Mountain 10 Mile / 5 Mile Cross Country Challenge.

PIH races are run by volunteers and supported by generous sponsors. New volunteers and sponsorship inquires are always welcome.

Prairie Inn Harriers Pioneer 8K100

PIH is proud to present the 40th Annual Harriers Pioneer 8K Road Race, part of the Vancouver Island Race Series and the BC Athletics Super Series.  The Harriers Pioneer 8K has a rich history of outstanding performances attracting many Olympians and world record age category athletes.  Several Canadian Records have been set at the Pioneer event.  Initiated in 1980 by the Prairie Inn Harriers, and staged in Central Saanich for 38 years, the race relocated to nearby North Saanich in 2018.  The new certified 8 kilometre course, is of similar profile to the old and features an out & back course through rural farmlands just north of the Victoria International Airport along mainly quiet country roads.

The Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club is pleased to present the 33rd Annual Harriers 2:18 Run Elk/Beaver Ultras.  The fast and flat 10 kilometre trail circuit around Elk and Beaver Lakes is considered as one of the premiere races of its type in North America.  Runners complete 10 laps for the 100K division, 8+ laps for 50 Miles and 5 laps for 50K while walkers complete 4 laps for 40K.  The venue is all trails, very flat, has good footing, and is in excellent condition. It is definitely a runner-friendly, P.R. type of course!

Goddess Victoria Logothumb

The Victoria Goddess Run is a PIH-supported event under the leadership of Harriers Race Directors, Cathy Noel and Tami Tate.  The seventh annual Victoria Goddess Run includes a 10K and a 5K Run/Walk which start and finish at a new venue, Belmont Secondary School on Glen Lake Road, and is supporting the BC Cancer Foundation. The lady's-focused event offers two brand new race courses this year and is a very popular summer gathering.  The run creates an opportunity for women to come together in a non-competitive, friendly, social environment to celebrate the power that they can embrace when they work together to reach their goals.

twilight2 thumb The 2:18 Run Twilight Shuffle 5K is a PIH-supported event under the leadership of Race Director and long-time Harrier, Phil Nicholls. After 30 years of being hosted in Chemainus with a rich tradition of attracting high performance athletes and many top level age group participants, the Twilight Shuffle moved to Victoria in 2015 and is now held at Thetis Lake Park. This classic race is one of the only evening events on Vancouver Island.

All Harriers are encouraged to participate or volunteer at the Twilight Shuffle to support 2:18 Run Corporation for the tremendous sponsorship and garments that Phil  provides for the Stewart Mountain Challenge, Thetis Lake Relay, Bob Reid Magical Mile and Gunner Shaw Classic races in November and for the Harriers Elk/Beaver Ultras in May.  He also assisted with garments for the 40th Anniversary Celebration and Club Reunion/BBQ last year.

Harriers Thetis Lake Cross Country Thetis Lake Relay Logo2017 100It is easier to complete the race with team mates but you can run it solo if you choose. Teams of 4 each participants run one 5K lap of the main trails looping Thetis Lake. This popular relay, always held on Remembrance Day, is the first race in the Harriers Thetis Lake Cross Country Adventure Series including the Harriers Stewart Mountain 10 Mile/5 Mile Challenge on December 8, 2019 and the Harriers Gunner Shaw 10K Classic on November 23, 2019.

Harriers Thetis Lake Cross Country Gunner Shaw Classic Logo2017 100Race on the secondary trails of Thetis Lake Park at the 35th annual Gunner Shaw Cross Country Classic.  Bring your trail shoes and expect lots of mud and lots of fun!  This is the second race and is the oldest Harriers-hosted event of the Thetis Lake Cross Country Adventure Series.  It's a classic and a must-do autumn trail experience at Thetis Lake Park.  Just run it!

Harriers-Boxing-Day-Logo-png-2014-thumbThis amazing, staggered start handicap race where anyone can win often attracts an international field competing for fame and fortune.  Ok, it's just people here for the holidays and some locals competing for quirky prizes and socializing at the Prairie Inn after, but it's a club tradition centred at our founding and namesake venue.  Oh, and it's free and almost everyone gets a prize!  This is your chance to beat the fastees!

Always on December 26th, Boxing Day which in 2018 is a Wednesday.

First runners start around 10:00 a.m. from the Prairie Inn Neighbourhood Pub.
